Healthy Ways to Ease Candy Cravings

Cravings. We all have them. Food cravings are a common response to what we’re going through and can cause the desire to munch on foods we wouldn’t normally eat, such as salty potato chips or sweet chocolate brownies. Studies have shown that cravings for certain foods come from a variety of reasons, including memories, emotions, weather, and stress.  Read More

Divine Hands

I was amazed at the vibrant color of the Swamp Cherry Maple tree I see from my office window. I realize the photo doesn't do it justice but I just had to share it! Every time I looked up from reading Divine Hands, it distracted me in a marvelous way. I took time to soak in the brilliance of nature, knowing it was temporary.

I was also inspired as I read the booklet, Divine Hands. My friend, Christine Labrum, Spiritual Director and Artist has released a new booklet. Held in darkness, prayer, battle, joy, strength, and surrounded by songs of deliverance as well as resting in God's hands are the themes she shares her insight, wisdom and art.

I just made this recipe yesterday. It is so easy and tasty, I couldn't wait to share it with you! It is now in my fall line up of roasted veggies.

Roasted-Cauliflower-Steaks

Cauliflower is in the cancer-fighting cruciferous category of vegetables. It is anti-inflammatory and antioxidant-rich, which may boost both your heart and brain health.

It packs a punch with impressive amounts of vitamin C, vitamin k, potassium, folate and much more while supporting healthy digestion and detoxification.

What Is The One Thing?

Has it been a disruptive summer? Are you starting to feel the affects in restless sleep, more tension and the numbers on the scale going in the wrong direction?

Are you ready to reclaim control of your life for more energy, less pounds, and clear thinking?

Start with "one thing". Focus on one action that will take you one step forward to feeling better. It is hard to cut through the clutter of our minds and environments to see "one thing" that by doing it will make everything easier or unnecessary.

I highly recommend the book The One Thing by Gary Keller. You will learn to reduce stress, revive energy, and master what matters to you. You can find it below.

Snack Smart For More Energy

Food fuels your body and affects your energy levels. Choose a combination of smart foods for sustainable focus and resiliency. Try some of these options:

  • Nut/seed butters with a fruit or vegetable.
    • Celery with almond butter
    • Pears or apples with SunButter (sunflower seed butter)
  • Hummus with carrots, broccoli, cauliflower
  • Semi-frozen berries with a sprinkle of granola

Prepare in advance for the office, baseball field and/or car. This is half the battle! Once you start planning and consuming smart snacks on a regular basis, your body will thank you with more stamina and mental clarity.

If your current snack selection for energy is sugar, caffeine, or simple carbs, your blood sugar will take a roller coaster ride and your energy along with it, for a new low.

What is your "go to" snack combination?
